130 podiums and 33 race wins for SHARK-sponsored BSB racers

Since the brand’s foundation more than 30 years ago by two racing brothers, SHARK’s extensive knowledge, safety, and technological innovation has been heavily rooted in race activities. 

From MotoGP race winner Johann Zarco to a young rider starting out their racing career in the British Talent Cup, all SHARK-supported racers wear SHARK’s Race-R Pro GP FIM helmet. 

During the 2023 BSB racing season, SHARK-sponsored riders acheieved 130 podiums and 33 race wins – including a podium-lockout in the Honda British Talent Cup. 

It was a very close call in the Bennetts British Superbikes as SHARK-supported rider Kyle Ryde of the OMG Racing Yamaha team battled for the top spot in the Championship until the final round at Brands Hatch. Ryde claimed an incredible third place with a total of 13 podiums across the season – including six race wins. 

“2023 has been a blockbuster year for me. Third in the championship and the best and most enjoyable year of racing I’ve ever had.” said OMG Racing Yamaha Racer, Kyle Ryde, “Being the only person who could keep up with the two Ducatis over the final round and earning my first triple podium on the last race; I’m very proud of myself for the year. It’s been many years of wearing SHARK and they’ve only got better and better. This year I have loved my SHARK helmet, it’s been my favourite of the lot so far; definitely the best helmet I’ve ever used”.

Lee Jackson, Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki, took home fourth overall in the BSB Championship, scoring points in every race. An outstanding performance, during Round 7 at Thruxton, saw Charlie Nesbitt take three podiums over the weekend and an eventual 11th in the Championship. Certainly one to look out for in 2024… 

After winning the Pirelli National Junior Superstock Championship in 2022, Max Cook entered into the British Superbikes for the first time and became Rookie’s Cup Champion after an impressive season. Charlie Nesbitt was the runner-up.

2023’s Honda British Talent Cup was a podium lockout for SHARK-supported riders with all three podium positions being taken by Evan Belford in first with 12 podiums and nine wins. Belford will now moves on to the Red Bull Rookies and the Junior World Championship backed by Dorna. Sullivan Mounsey, rightfully took second overall in the Talent Cup with 11 podiums and five wins and Amanuel Brinton earned third thanks to their nine podiums and four wins. 

Evan Belford, Honda British Talent Cup Champion, comments: “The 2023 season was amazing for me, I felt strong from start to finish. Snetterton was the round where I figured how to ride fast but smooth and my racing style just seemed to click so I stuck with it and won the championship. I would also like to say a big thank you to the SHARK team for always keeping me protected since 2019.”

In the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship, Rhys Irwin took home fourth, after nine podiums and two wins in Round 4, Knockhill and Round 6, Brands Hatch. Lewis Jones was the Vice Champion in the Hel British Junior Supersport after taking eight podiums and five wins. The Pirelli National Superstock saw Joe Talbot take five podiums and two wins earning the fourth spot overall and Thomas Strudwick earned himself the title of second in the ABK Beer 0% BMW Motorrad F 900 R Cup with nine podiums. He was also the only rider to trouble champion, Richard Cooper, who won every race.
