Donington Park to be a milestone for Scott Redding and SHARK Helmets
The British Superbike Championship heads to Donington Park on 4-6 October for the penultimate round of the much-loved national championship. Heading into the weekend with a 14-point lead to his closest rival – and teammate – Josh Brookes, is SHARK-supported Scott Redding who has fond memories of the Leicestershire-based track.
Rewind to 2008, when Redding became the youngest ever Grand Prix winner – at the time – aged just 15 years and 170 days old at Donington Park. Not only this but he became the first British rider ever to win a British round of any Grand Prix class since the British Motorcycle Grand Prix moved to the mainland in 1977 – it was only his eighth GP!
SHARK Helmets are proud to have been supporting Scott since his early racing career, right back to his mini moto days. The French brand is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and thought Donington Park was the perfect place to highlight its relationship with #45 Scott Redding (30+15 = 45)…
SHARK Helmets UK Technical Manager, Mark Eilledge, looks after Redding’s FIM homologated, state-of-the-art, SHARK Race-R Pro GP and ensures it’s prepped and ready for him to race.
Mark explains: “This upcoming weekend at Donington is a great opportunity for us to look back at the history we have with Scott and celebrate what an amazing season he’s had so far in the British Superbike Championship. It will be fantastic to see him back at Donington Park riding a track he has so many memories on. It ties in nicely too with the 30th anniversary of SHARK – he was just 15 when he won and SHARK are now 30, so added together it makes 45 – his race number!”
SHARK Helmets wishes Scott lots of luck in the remaining rounds in the showdown!
